Raw food diet seems to be a major buzzword these days.  Is it just another crazy fad that will eventually fade away? Or, is there more to it?  Many who embark on a raw whole food diet, or at least increase their raw food intake, see and feel the profound effects almost immediately.  Increasing organic raw food in the diet can lead to many great health benefits, such as better energy, clearer skin, and overall sense of well-being.

Cooked food loses a lot of nutrients, so you’re not getting the most benefit out of it when you eat them this way.  Plus, heat can damage proteins, which can be detrimental to the body when ingested.  However, organic raw foods contain a lot of nutrients and are more easily digestible.  They also contain many more natural antioxidants, which act as good soldiers fighting and destroying those free radicals in defense of the body.

You don’t have to be on a total raw food diet to reap the rewards.  In fact, it may be much easier to gradually introduce more and more into your diet as you are comfortable.  Easy ways to add more raw whole foods would include sipping on fresh raw food shakes, smoothies and juices, salads (you can move away from the traditional lettuce, tomato, cucumber deal and make things more exciting, try swapping the lettuce for spinach or kale, adding some walnuts and apples, a touch of cilantro or however else you wish to spruce and spice it up), and trading your usual snacks and comfort foods for fruits and veggies.

Adding more raw food doesn’t have to be a dramatic thing.  You can take it at your own pace.  The more you do it, the more you’ll want to do it.  Feeling great is not the only benefit of increased raw foods, as it’s also more eco-friendly, since you’ll have less packaging to toss.  So, increasing raw foods is better for your body and our planet.  That’s definitely much more than a short lived fad!

A great way to increase raw food intake is through delicious smoothies.  Don’t forget your glass Thickshake & Smoothies Straw!  Don’t have one?  Grab yours here!

In this crazy fast-paced world, it’s important to take some time out of each day to pamper yourself, even if it’s just 15 minutes.  If you run around taking care of everybody else and never take some time out for yourself, you’ll eventually break down and won’t be able to take care of anyone!

Think about your car.  You can’t just gas up your car and expect it to go.  It will go for a certain amount of time, but without checking the fluids and getting regular tune-ups, eventually it will break down and so will your body, mind, and spirit.  Not taking time for yourself can leave you feeling fatigued, low energy, full of anxiety, stressed, unable to think clearly, and is the fast track to getting the latest virus that’s going around.

By taking time for self-care, you allow yourself time to heal and regenerate, so that you can be at peak performance and on your top game.  Find something that fits within your schedule and your personal tastes.  It could be a nice warm bubble path scented with your favorite essential oils, rising early to do some yoga asanas, taking a walk through a nice wooded area, doing a facial, getting a massage, or any activity you enjoy.

While you may find it hard to carve out time, think about it as preventative maintenance, because if you don’t take the time now, you will have to take more time later, when you end up sick.  Reevaluate your priorities and realize that personal care time is at the top of the list!  Also, don’t feel guilty about taking “me time”, because you’re doing this for everybody else, just as much as you are doing it for yourself.

When you take this holistic approach to personal care, you will reap the benefits.  You will find yourself refreshed and renewed, ready to tackle any challenge.

Speaking of pampering yourself…have you checked out these Blender Bend 30cm straws?  They’re perfect for sitting back and relaxing, while sipping on your favorite smoothie!  Click here to get yours today!

Before you go filling your home with toxic fumes, wouldn’t it be wise to see if there is an eco-friendly alternative?  Well, you don’t have to hold your breath, because you can save green in your wallet a1nd be green for our planet by making the switch to natural disinfectants.  Many herbs have antibacterial, antiseptic, and antifungal properties.  Several are quite useful as disinfectants and work just as well as the toxic store bought ones.  Plus, these same herbs offer other benefits, so having your home smelling nice also doubles as good aromatherapy.  That’s a win, win, win! So, a natural disinfectant is the perfect addition to your environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.

Rosemary tops the list of these natural organic cleaners. Rosemary is antiseptic, antibacterial, and antifungal.  The other herbs that are great disinfectants are lemon oil, eucalyptus, clove, thyme, oregano oil, lavender, orange, tea tree, peppermint, and cinnamon.  There are other herbs that work too, but these twelve are the best of the best.

Find what works best for you!
We each have differing body chemistries and as such, we are each drawn to or don’t have tolerance for certain herbs.  Please feel free to mix and match until you find a blend that works best for you.  The following recipe is just a guide.  By all means, swap or remove herbs as you like.  We want this mix to be perfect for you, so you will be more likely to use it in the future.

When selecting your oils, ensure that they are 100% pure essential oils and are not mixed with synthetic or diluted with a carrier oil.  Don’t be fooled by marketing gimmicks, there is no such thing as “Certified Therapeutic Grade”, so do your homework.

Create your own disinfecting solution with the following recipe:

2 cups water
½ cup witch hazel
11 drops lemon oil
9 drops eucalyptus oil
7 drops rosemary oil
3 drops tea tree oil

Blend all ingredients into spray bottle, shake well and use!
